The Frisco Institute for Reproductive Medicine (FIRM) has its own accredited Reproductive Hormone Laboratory for the analysis of reproductive hormones. Images of the ovary created by Sonograms are an invaluable tool in the assessment of the anatomy and function of the ovary. The Andrology Laboratory is equipped to provide qualitative and quantitative determinations relative to sperm (Semen Analysis) and as well prepare sperm for Intrauterine Insemination (IUI). The Institute is equipped with an advanced X-ray apparatus designed to deliver high resolution images of the uterus and fallopian tubes (Hysterosalpingogram or HSG). The C-Arm device improves the quality of the x-ray image while limiting the exposure of the ovaries to x-irradiation when compared to conventional X-ray machines. The Sonohystogram is an alternative method of evaluating the interior of the uterus when a polyp or fibroid is suspected. On the premises of FIRM is a fully equipped, staffed and accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center where hysteroscopy and laparoscopy may be performed for diagnostic or therapeutic indications. In those instances in which a conservative approach to infertility seems unlikely to result in success, a “final” therapeutic alternative is assisted reproductive technologies such as In Vitro Fertilization and embryo transfer of one or more embryos to the uterus. See the information sheet on Infertility Evaluation from ASRM.
