Ovulation induction involves the use of one or more medicines to insure timely ovulation. Once ovulation is ensured, the chances for the sperm and egg to meet in the fallopian tube is increased. Additionally, ovulation induction can be combined with therapeutic insemination where sperm is washed and concentrated in the andrology laboratory and then inseminated directly into the uterus. Therapeutic insemination brings the sperm and the egg closer to each other and may overcome some anatomical barriers which may increase the chance for conception.
