A telescope can be inserted through the cervical canal (A) and into the uterine cavity (B) for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.

It is possible to remove polyps, cysts, small fibroids, scar tissue and certain congenital defects. The fibroid seen inside the cavity of the uterus (C) can be removed without an incision by using instruments placed through the cervix. The operative site (D, arrow) heals rapidly.
